Sets in Russia, France, Germany and the U.S. are now available
Published Mar 27, 2020Just over a year after launching a live archive with nugs.net, Sonic Youth have now made 13 concert recordings from across their career available through Bandcamp.
A newly created profile for the group features show recordings from as early as 1986 and as late as 2009, complete with credits and release notes.
Live concerts available include shows from November 5, 1988, at Cabaret Metro in Chicago; August 17, 2002, at Metro in Chicago; December 13, 1988, at CBGB in New York; August 22, 2007, at ABC1 in Glasgow; October 21, 2009, at Columbiahalle in Berlin; and August 12, 2011, at Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn.
As of press time, the band continue to upload recordings to the Bandcamp page, including live 7-inch Cotton Crown / PCH, which was initially released through fanzine Sonic Death in 1993. You can find that below.
"Through the years and as the times changed we recorded our live shows as often as we could, on cassettes, DATs, CD-Rs and later on multi-track recorders," drummer Steve Shelley previously explained of the band's show archive in 2018. "We collected fan-generated audience tapes, shady bootlegs and anything we could get our hands on."
Last year, Kim Gordon released her debut solo album No Home Record.
