Published Jan 08, 2021Last year, Linkin Park celebrated 20 years of their breakthrough album Hybrid Theory with an enormous reissue. Now, they're following that up with a series of remixes, and the first fascinating choice is to pair their sound with 100 gecs, who have taken on the band's "One Step Closer."
The remix comes from the same creative place as Reanimation, the 2002 Hybrid Theory remix album that invited other artists to switch up the songs.
"Part of the spirit of Reanimation was to take the Hybrid Theory songs that people knew so well, and let innovative artists flip them in ways nobody expected," Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda said in a press release. "I think 100 gecs did exactly that."
He's not wrong. The 100 gecs/Linkin Park collaboration sounds exactly as you'd expect, and it's pretty damn great.
