'Star Trek' Actor Rene Auberjonois Dead at 79
The actor died following a battle with metastatic lung cancer

News of Auberjonois's death was confirmed by his son Remy and shared via the actor's official Twitter page:

Rene started his career as a theatre actor in the 1960s before making a name for himself in film and television from the '70s through the '90s. In addition to his Deep Space Nine role, he played Father John Mulcahy in the M.A.S.H. motion picture. He also starred in the television series Benson.
